Workshops Away!

June 24, 2012

Yesterday I had the opportunity to play demonstrator once again for Michelle Graham's.  A couple of last minute cancellations, but it was a lot of fun. I was a lot more prepared this time and I learn something new each time.

Michelle asked to help with some of the prep work (she was that excited) but it meant she saw all the projects ahead of time.  Which made me sad that she had no surprise.  Or so she thought.

With the help of my upline, Tara, (who has been recently named as one of the 20 finalists for the 2012-2013 Design Team) on an idea, I prepped this cute little project.

It's a hand sanitizer holder!  How awesome is that?  With school end right around the corner this makes a nice token to give to teachers, EA's or ECE's, or whoever else!

Paper: Primrose Petals, More Mustard DSP, and Whisper White
Stamps: Mixed Bunch and Lovely Little Labels
Punch: Blossom punch, Little Labels Punch pack, and 1" circle*
Ink:  Midnight Muse
Adhesives: SNAIL, and Sticky strip
Ribbon: 1/8" taffeta Very Vanilla
Extra: Basic pearls jewel accents, velcro, mini hand sanitizer from Bath and Body works.

I really wanted to use my Lovely Little Labels stamp and punch sets, so they HAD to be incorporated.  Actually, quite a bit on here was from product I just received that week.  There are tutorials already in existence , so I won't re-invent the wheel, here:
http://dawnsstampingthoughts.typepad.com/dawns_stampin_studio/2011/04/mini-hand-sanitizer-holder-video-.html  She also has one with a Halloween themed one, and overall, she has some really amazing ideas.

*The project calls for a oval punch, which I don't own, and my scallop oval was just too big and broke the side. I improvised and used the 1" circle and snipped two slits on each side of the circle and voila!  Lesson here?  Don't discard a project just because you don't have the EXACT tools called for.  Improvise with what you have.

I hope you enjoyed this little cutie, as much as I did (and Michelle who has made 3 others since).

Friday Mash up Challenge

June 19, 2012

I'm quite new to all this, my realm of comfort being everything cake for the past 11 or so years, but I am very taken with stamping.  Having said that, I barely get time to create, so made time in between naps times.  So here it goes,  my first Friday Mashup!

Cardstock: Pool Party textured, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White and Daffodil Delight
Stamp: Betsy's Blossom, and Tiny Tags
Ink: Black and Rich Razzleberry
Ribbon: Seam binding ribbon, Daffodil Delight
Big Shot: Edgelit, Itty Bitty Banners and Stripe Textured
Adhesive: Snail, Dimensionals, and Sticky Strip

It's hard to tell here, but the Daffodil Delight banner piece is actually the ribbon, cut with the Big Shot.  I kept it quite simple, but have since added a component to this.
